Make Better Decisions, Faster, With Smaller Feedback Loops

I just got back from an incredible business conference. And as I sat in the airport to fly home, I did what I always do after three intense days of learning; I reflected on my biggest takeaways and created a plan to take action. This time the takeaway was simple. Smaller feedback loops allow you to make better decisions, faster.

I’ll be sharing my takeaways with you over the next few weeks, but before I get to the first takeaway I have to ask a question:

Do you have a process for reflection and taking action?

One of the major lessons of this conference was understanding the importance of speed of implementation.

Actions lead to insights.

Insights lead to better decision-making.

Better decisions lead to quicker more focused actions.

This is your action-taking feedback loop:

You’re not going to discover what excites you if you never get out and try anything.

As soon as you take action, you quickly discover if you love something or hate it.

That feedback is directly related to the decisions you’ll make in the future.

It should go without saying, but the MORE feedback you get the BETTER decisions you can make.

The quicker you take action, the quicker you get feedback.

A smaller feedback loop helps you make better decisions, faster.

So, are you taking action, or are you waiting for something to happen?

I am challenging you today to do the thing you’ve been putting off.

Don’t think too hard about it, you already know what it is.

Just do it!

Here’s to the action takers 🍻
